Naughty Bits

Something that has always amazed me is the nicknames which are used when referring to people's "naughty bits"

Take the Swedes and their use of the word "mus" (mouse) which they use when talking about the female naughty bit... Why??? does it squeek?.. is it partial to cheese?

Some analogies I can understand... others... I just don't have the foggiest... Fanny.. what's with that?.. why not Ethel, Victoria?

If there is a Swede out there that could explain to me the origin to the use of "mus" .. I'm all ears... no pun intended.

Firefox Essentials I - Coral IE Tab

With this blog series I thought I would share with you all which addons I feel are essential for Firefox.

Why choose Fire fox at all?
Apart from the fact that it is competitor to Microsoft Explorer there are other benefits as well. It is more stable, less prone to attacks and more flexible than Explorer.

Unfortunately there are some websites that still have problems with Firefox... most commonly these problems appear when trying to watch a video clip. The addon bellow provides a solution to that problem. What it does is reopen the "tab" or site you are trying to see in Explorer still using Firefox as a shell. This means you don't have to open Explorer, find the page, read it, close Explorer and open Firefox again.

All That is required is that you push the button on the left (which appears in your navigation toolbar) and hey-presto the site is now in explorer and you don't notice the difference.

This addon can be found ...here...

The next installment.... getting rid of all those ads... see you then..

You ask... I Answer 1

New Zealand (Aotearoa)
Land Of The Long White Cloud

Is located in the south-western Pacific Ocean approx 2000km south-east of Australia.

New Zealand has a total land area of 268,680 km² , being 1600km long.

The indigenous people are called Maori. Polynesian in origin, they arrived sometime around 1280 AD.

The First European to discover NZ was Dutchman  Abel Tasman in 1642. Several of his crew were killed in an encounter with the Maori. It wasn't until 1769 that the Europeans returned in the form of Englishman James Cook, who mapped almost the whole coastline.

New Zealand became part of the British empire after the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi the 6th February 1840 between the main tribes of NZ and the British. Discrepancies in the translations of both copies are to this day a major cause of dispute, mainly of landownership rights. This date has now become the day we celebrate our nation's birth.

1947 became New Zealand officially independent, although it had been self governing since 1856. New Zealand was in fact the first country in the world to give woman the vote (1893).

New Zealand's geographic isolation helped it create a unique fauna dominated by birds being free from mammals except for three species of bat until the arrival of the Maori people who brought with them, among other things, the pacific rat.

3 notable species are:
1: The Giant Moa; an Emu like bird that could grow to a height of 3,7m and weigh 230kg.(extinct)
2: Haast's Eagle; the largest eagle ever to exist weighing approx 10-15kg.(extinct)
3: The Kiwi, not the fruit but the bird after which we Kiwis call ourselves.

New Zealand's highest peak: Mount Cook/Aroaki: 3754m (Kebnekaise 2111m)

New Zealand's climate is described as mild.. with temperatures rarely falling bellow 0 °C or rising above 30 °C

Current population: 4,356,555
of which 78% European, 14.6% Maori, 9.2% Asian and 6.9% of Pacific peoples.

The official languages are: English, Maori and New Zealand sign-language.

Government: Parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy (British)
Welligton is the capital city while Auckland is the country's largest city

New Zealand's population of sheep have declined from 70 million in 1980 to 39 million 2008. New Zealand has 50% of the world lamb meat trade.

Main sport/religion: Rugby

You ask... I Answer.

I have, as I said in the previous blog, had trouble finding something interesting to write about today...

I have had an idea of a way to solve this dilemma....

How about you, all my readers, if you have a question about something going on in the world, whatever the subject, that you are curious about, ask me, and I will spend a couple of days researching the subject and hopefully be able to come back to you with an answer.

I see this as a chance for both myself and hopefully you all to broaden our knowledge base... so we can develop and grow into well informed intellectuals.

So don't hesitate... drop me a line!!!!

Rude report II

Today I have had trouble finding something to write about. So I thought I would update you all on the results ..so far..  this week I have had 8 visitors but none because of the original rude report but rather because, it seems, that it it is still popular to search after Japanese Speed skater "Miho Takagi" combined with the "String". I've had visiters from Japan, Korea, America, Argentina, the UK even Saudi Arabia. What ever tickles their fancy...
I will keep you all posted with the latest...but that is all I have for this rude report...

Ouch Anja

Congratulations Norway!!!

Kiwi Wines according to James May

I saw this quote in the New Zealand paper The Dominion-Post
James May of "Top Gear" fame has developed over the years into somewhat of a wine connoisseur and fronted several wine documentaries for the BBC. While visiting the "land of the long white cloud" (Aotearoa) Mr May gave this analogy of the country's wines...

"It's a bit like the Porsche 911, Ferraris might be a bit more exciting, Maserati are a bit more exotic but if you like the sensation of driving a well engineered, very well set up car and you actually want to depend on it and use it you end up with a Porsche 911."

the rest of the article can be read ....here

Oh and if anyone is offering... I wouldn't mind a 911 Porsche or a bottle of good Kiwi wine.

I actually feel sorry for Norway

It hasn't been the start Norway expected in this Winter Olympics. Still without a gold medal, more because of bad luck than bad management. Especially when it comes to the skiing where the weather changes have made it difficult to get the ski preparation right.

I never expected Sweden to have 2 golds while Norway had none. I realise though this is but a fleeting moment as I have no doubt Norway will soon find their footing and the golds will start rolling in. That is, while I am well aware I will have to eat my words, I cant help but say....

Headless Kiwi COD MWII

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was released in the middle of November last year.
The Call of Duty series first got my attention many years ago when all the local game stores had Tv console versions on display for customers to try. Not having either a Tv or a computer that was able to handle the game specs back then it wasn't until last year with the purchase of a new computer (a HP Dv7 1095eo) that I finally had something meant I could play the games. (I still don't own a Tv) I rushed out and bought Call of Duty 5 World at War (COD 5 WAW)... I played this game over and over.. not getting any better, but I kept playing just the same.
After a time I began to wonder what the story was with the multiplayer. One day after plucking up enough courage I gave it a go. I found "Team Death Match, Hard Core" and was hooked. The first few games all I did was get in everyone's way and die.. then I started learning different tactics and even managed to kill one or two people. Yay.

The release of COD MWII (Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2) was marred with controversy. Mainly because they had taken away the private person's control of the multiplayer aspect of the game... Gone was the ability of private people setting up servers and determining regulations for the play. After reading all the pros and cons, ignoring all the chatter about boycotting the game, I decided to go ahead and purchase it.
I can feel the single player game play is missing something... I can't quite put my finger on what but I didn't enjoy it as much as I did COD 5 WAW. The Multiplayer is both good and bad. In hardcore I can miss the number of opponents that we had with the private servers, but at the same time I feel the current maps would be too crowded with too many more players.
Some drawbacks are: sometimes the game is really slow as one of the player's computers is selected as the server.. Even at my girlfriend's place, I have been selected to hold the game and though she has a good speed for the basic internet stuff.. for gaming it's not much chop for me... let alone hosting a whole match.
You still get your cheats.. though I must say not as many as with the private servers so on the whole I enjoy the game.

So if you have a PC version of the game and you see a "Headless Kiwi" running around say "hi"
Why do I call myself headless Kiwi?
I do so because I feel at times all I do is run around like a chicken with it's head cut off, with no plan or thought, and die... simple as that.

To Tickle?.. that is the question.

While on hold with a Medical clinic a Swedish woman was tickled by her partner...

"So what"!?

Well the story doesn't end there. Apparently the clinic answered the phone in the middle of the tickle incident unbeknown to the couple. What did the medical staff hear?.. A lot of screaming and shouting of the word "stop". Now assuming the worst, the medical staff quite rightly called the police.
After a while there was a very loud knock at the door. Upon answering, the partner was promptly told to sit down with his hands on his knees and stay there until the two policemen that had marched in could find out what was going on.
After explanations and conversations back and forth with both the couple and the medical clinic satisfied the police they left.

I personally think it was a great initiative of the medical staff because in such situations it is much better to assume the worst and be proven wrong than ignoring it all.

The whole story also got me to thinking that maybe I shouldn't tickle my girlfriend so much.. because I know how she feels about it, but hey.. it's fun.. so I guess having the police charging in is a risk I have to take.

The article can be read ...here... (in Swedish) in the newspaper Aftonbladet.

Barbie Doll Anyone?

It appears that Barbie has a new career... Her 126th.
She is now a computer engineer.
Mattel explains as follows:

"The winner of the popular vote is Computer Engineer. Computer Engineer Barbie®, debuting in Winter 2010, inspires a new generation of girls to explore this important high-tech industry, which continues to grow and need future female leaders.
“All the girls who imagine their futures through Barbie will learn that engineers — like girls — are free to explore infinite possibilities, limited only by their imagination,” says Nora Lin, President, Society of Women Engineers. “As a computer engineer, Barbie will show girls that women can turn their ideas into realities that have a direct and positive impact on people’s everyday lives in this exciting and rewarding career.”
To create an authentic look, Barbie® designers worked closely with the Society of Women Engineers and the National Academy of Engineering to develop the wardrobe and accessories for Computer Engineer Barbie®. Wearing a binary code patterned tee and equipped with all the latest gadgets including a smart phone, Bluetooth headset, and laptop travel bag, Computer Engineer Barbie® is geek chic."

My favourite must still be California Barbie... cool car and Bikini!!
I never ever ever played with dolls!!...Honest!!!;

Kiwi music VII -Theme- Valentine's day -

Today I thought I would share with you all an oldie but a goodie.
A real one hit wonder from a cover band from my old home town, Wellington, called "The Holiday Makers"
Their hit came wayyyy bbackk in 1988... the scary thing is that I remember it well.
The song is called "Sweet Lovers" which I thought was appropriate considering what day it is tomorrow..

So for ALL my Valentines out there ...enjoy...

Site Traffic.

I have been using a traffic counter on my site from the good folks at susnet.se
It is a good little counter as it can be either hidden or visible and one has the ability to exclude chosen IP numbers, your own for example, but interestingly you can see which IP number the visitor's had.

I have been using this counter for a while now and from it I see that it is mainly my girlfriend's friends that read my blog... Thanks guys... But I have also noticed that I have a few visitors daily through a certain type of Google search, namely "Miho Takagi", "Thong", "Clothing shock"

I have therefore decided to do a little test. I have decided to write several words in this blog.... rude words...
I want to see how many visitors I receive by doing this. I thought it could be fun to let you all know where they come from.

Sorry to disappoint those of you who expected
naughty things here.... But please when you are finished what you are doing... come back and give my blog a go sometime.

bellow are the "rude" words written in white text so we don't have to see them...

Thong, sex, athlete, celebrity, nude, naked, bra, lingerie, sex toy, underwear, topless, breasts, sex tape,  R rated, snusk, bröst, naket, G string, string trosor, threesome, 18 yrs, pornstar, porn, adults only, lesbian sex,
sexy, upskirt, no panties,

I welcome any suggestions for rude words... though  please not too obscene. Send them to me by mail rather than via comments.

Cheers &  Bye for now.

For a bit of a laugh

Here is a clip for all you ordinary folks out there...

A Cringe..

Our naked bodies lay as if they were one. Her silky smooth legs tightly intertwined in mine.......

Anyway.... much, much, Much, much..(you get the picture) later I had a thought that made me cringe.
"A thought?" you ask... "it must be lonely"
I respond with a "Ha Ha"
Then you wonder "So why did the thought make you cringe?"
To which I answer...

" I cringed because all of a sudden I thought, what if those legs were not silky smooth but instead hairy?

The thought of my legs intertwined with a pair of legs just as hairy as mine... yucky!"

Following this train of thought I then wondered what was so unappealing with hairy legs. The only conclusion I could come to was that I must be some sort of Homophobe.

Hairy legs = man... simple.

Silky smooth legs = women... nice =)

Gee... its at moments like this when one realises that one really is a product of one's upbringing. In many cultures this wouldn't be an issue.

Lets face it... with the temperature being what it is outside it must, at least, be a little warmer to have hairy legs...especially if all you are otherwise wearing is a pair of stockings, not to talk about the time and effort it must take to keep them smooth.

Is it fair for me as a male to expect my partner to shave her legs?

No of course it isn't, she should have the right to choose for herself.

The next obvious question is... What would happen if she decided not to shave her legs?

A question to which at this time I have no answer.

The Hurricanes 34, The Blues 20 !! =)

Photo: Getty images

Well that's that then, the first competition match of the season completed. The Hurricanes won. Unfortunately they won more through their boot than their running game, which looked rather scrappy. Lets hope they improve that before the next game.

I managed to watch it by checking out the streams on Myp2p. The quality of the stream was bad but watchable for the dedicated. I am seriously considering the paysite rugbyzone.com but must first fiqure out how it works and what it costs.

R U Bored??

If so, beware!!!
... according to some experts... the old saying "bored to death" could have some substance to it.
There was apparently some study done in the United Kingdom where a statistical correlation was found between the death of some people and their admission to being bored... and not because someone killed them for their constant complaining.

Here are some exerts of an article I found at stuff.co.nz .....

---------
The link between boredom and increased heart problems was possible - if not direct.
"Someone who is bored may not be motivated to eat well, exercise, and have a heart-healthy lifestyle. That may make them more likely to have a cardiovascular event," said Dr. Christopher Cannon, an associate professor of medicine at Harvard University and spokesman for the American College of Cardiology.
He also said if people's boredom was ultimately linked to depression, it wouldn't be surprising if they were more susceptible to heart attacks; depression has long been recognized as a risk factor for heart disease. Cannon also said it was possible that when people are bored, dangerous hormones are released in the body that stress the heart.
Britton and Shipley said boredom was probably not in itself that deadly. "The state of boredom is almost certainly a proxy for other risk factors," they wrote. "It is likely that those who were bored were also in poor health."
Others said boredom was potentially as dangerous as stress.
----------

Thank god then I lead such a dramatic, exciting life full of action...
Oh well back to the Tv to watch some sitcom....chips anyone?

Oh and if you are interested... you can read the rest of the article  ...here...

Ice breaker II

Because I could feel the disappointment you all felt when I couldn't provide a photo for the previous blog...
I decided to do something about it.
Bellow is my artistic(?) impression of the incident.

Ice breakers

No... I'm not talking about when you are trying to get a conversation started with a stranger...
... I'm living up in the frozen north remember...

Anyway... some poor sod went for an evening walk on the ice-covered waterway that runs through central Stockholm when, all of a sudden, along comes one of those Ice breaker boats smashing the ice as its goes (of course) leaving the poor guy stranded on a piece of ice without the ability to move.

Now after what seems to be hours of screaming and shouting he is finally heard and a big rescue operation gets underway to save the guy. To make a long story short he is saved and they all live happily ever after.

But there then of course comes the question...who was it that said an evening walk was healthy for you?
I bet this guy will think twice before taking another one.

P.s. Somewhere about  --here-- I would of put a picture of the incident but then i realised that there might be some copywrite infringement thingy.. or something...

You never know.. one of my loyal readers might report me...
But of course I know who you are... both of you... and I might get even. ;)

Anyway if you want to see a photo, or read the article, it can be found ...here... at the newspaper Aftonbladet

Blog Subjects

I have been checking out a lot of blogs recently..
Jeez some of them are revealing.. a little scary really... what some people are prepared to disclose publically.

Super 14 starts friday =)

I can't wait...
I will try and follow this season's Super 14 rugby tournament. It is made up of provincial teams from New Zealand, South Africa and Australia with 4 teams coming from Aus and 5 teams from NZ and South Africa respectively.

Historically the New Zealand teams have been the main contenders to take home the trophy and it is no different this year as it is the "Crusaders" tipped to win. Something, no doubt, the current holders, the South African "Bulls", are determined to prevent.

Being a Wellingtonien  by heart I have to support the team that represents that part of the country.. namely the "Hurricanes". They finished third last year... here's hoping for a better result this season.

It's now just a matter of finding a reliable stream to watch..... wish me luck.

Kiwi music IV

Today's artist is one that I already know of... I am already in possession of a couple of her albums.
The Artist's name is "Bic Runga"

Bad(?) angle?

There has been all sorts of articles both in the Swedish and overseas media concerning Japanese speed-skater Miho Takagi and her suit.

With headlines like "clothing shock", photos... such as the one left (courtesy of Reuters) have been cabled all over the world. It appears the skater's suit is see through and ..shock.. horror.. she is wearing a thong.

It now however appears that it could all be just one big mistake. It seems to be the result of various seams, the stretch material the suit is made of and a bad camera angle.

I don't know whether I should be glad for her or disappointed for all us men out there who all of a sudden had a reason to watch the speed-skating.

Kiwi music III

Here comes my third installment on the theme "Kiwi music". It goes back to one of the bands referred to in My first blog in this series. Because I liked Julia Dean's new single  I was curious to hear some examples of the band "Fur patrol's" music. I have included two videos the first being of a song called "Lydia" and the second their single called "Precious"

A Must Have?

Was reading the NZ Herald and saw how they mentioned something for those of you that have everything else...
The object is available for purchase on Play.com

The details are as follows...

From the legendary Monty Python and the Holy Grail comes this fantastic abusive keychain with 17 sayings from the actual Monty Python crew!!

Abusive sayings include:

Button your lip, you ratbag!
Come on you worm...you miserable little man.
Come at me then...come on, do your worst, you worm.
Death awaits you all! With nasty, big, pointy teeth.
Don't come here with that posh talk you nasty stuck-up twit!
Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!
I wave my private parts at your aunties.
What is it now, you great pillock?
You dirty double-crossing rat.
You don't frighten us, pig-dogs!
Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person.
I blow my nose at you.
You stupid, birdbrained, flatheaded...
You're a looney.

There are a few more sayings that are apparently too explicit to show
I guess those you will just have to find out for yourself ;)
And it is avaliable for a mere 4.49 euro... sounds like a real bargain.

A movie to see?

It seems I am in a period of feeling a little home sick.. or something, because a lot of my bloging is about stuff from back home..

Anyway.. this time its all about a new film called "Boy" Directed by Taika Waititi.
You know .. the guy who directed Eagle vs Shark

You can read about "Boy" ...here.. at Stuff.co.nz

or better yet you can watch the video bellow

Kiwi music

I have decided to go on a little trip of discovery and I thought I might as well let everyone join me on the ride.

I have decided to explore kiwi music and in the coming weeks I will attempt to acquaint myself with New Zealand bands. I am not going to analyse or judge them in anyway as that is not my goal.. I just want to know what is out there.

The only restrictions being that they are from New Zealand and that I am able to share with you their music in some shape or form.

So here is my second blog in the "series". The first being ...here...

Anyway the artist is known as "Rapture Ruckus" and if you enjoyed the music from the video bellow and would like to learn more about the artist you can visit his MySpace page

And if you are wondering... No I haven't found religion... he was just one of the first artists that came up in my search... and as I said I am not going to analyse or judge.

That being said I would of course welcome any suggestions you might have for groups that you think should be represented/ displayed here and/ or any opinions you might have about the music.

My Friend Mel

I see Mel Gibson has made the news again. Calling some reporter an "#-hole" After he thought the interview was over and the microphone turned off. The reporter had made the mistake of taking up Mel's controversial anti- Semitic comments from a few years back.

What is it with all these male public figures who seem to go through some sort of mid-life crisis. Is it some sort of male menopausal identity crisis or something?  Do all men go through it?.. I wonder... is it something I and my surroundings have to look forward to?

Anyway I can understand Mel's reaction... he must be tired of having to explain himself, his mistakes and their consequences over and over again. But at the same time I can understand the media's interest .. he is after all a celebrity.

....On the other hand  it could of course be one of those clever(?) PR-tricks to promote his new film by getting extra media coverage...

It all seems though, a world away from the time he stared in the film Gallipoli, filmed in 1981. I just happened to see this film the other day and although it has aged a little it is still one of my favourite films. It contains sprinting and the emotions a sprinter goes through both leading up too, and during a race, something which was, at one time, a big part of my life. But also perhaps more importantly for us Kiwi's and Aussies it showed a little of what many of our relatives went through in that part of the world, at that time, a long way from home. An experience which all too many men didn't come home from.

More information about the Gallipoli campaign from a Kiwi perspective can be read ...here...

As Promised..

I promised to let you all(?) know how it went getting the car out from it's snowed in parking spot today.

For starters my girlfriend's parents came by with a shovel... so it was not necessary for me to take the 10 minute walk to their place... a good start.
Secondly the weather was perfect.. a mere -3/-4 degrees.
To top it all off the snow was not all too compact which meant it was manageable with the shovel.

So in reality, what had the potential to be a real nightmare ended up being a pleasant little work-out of not more than 40 minutes, for both myself and my girlfriend.

The work-out also provided an unexpected physical benefit as can be seen in the photos bellow.

Before:

After:

Two Hot Girls In The Shower...

= every man's dream?

But no I'm not referring to some R rated video that I've recently seen... honest...
I am in fact referring to the YouTube pair and their series of sketches.. which as the title implies are performed in the shower.

Now I am all too well aware that most of you have probably already seen these ladies in action. For us others whom are only now discovering YouTube as a source of entertainment I can recommend them. It is the combination of their script and the physical interaction between the two...( mind out of the gutter now ;-) )
By this I mean ,for example, it's their facial expressions that I find amusing..

you can visit their site ...Here...

I also like a song they have recorded here which plays on the American stereotype. I will state that I am not anti- American... I try my best not to be anti anything.

Euro 2012

Reading the papers you would think Sweden qualifying for the tournament is going to be a piece of cake. I agree Sweden did get a good group and stand a good chance....

But still, I don't think either Holland or Hungary are going to be easy matches and even though we should easily beat Finland I predict that to be an ugly match of which there is a risk Sweden takes too lightly creating the possibility of an upset.

It will be interesting to see if we see Zlatan in this qualifying round or if he waits until the tournament to make himself available.

All this then leaves me with three questions...

1. Do you think this is an easy group for Sweden?

2. Does Sweden need Zlatan?

3. Do you care?

Lastly... even if the Kiwi's loose every one of their matches at the World Cup... at least they are there... where is Sweden???

Waitangi Day

Yesterday, being the good kiwi that I am, I celebrated Waitangi Day... Our National Day...

The day The British signed a treaty with the Maori tribes making New Zealand a part of their empire.... no controversy there...

Some music from Home

I was sorry to hear that kiwi musician Pauly Fuemana had passed away. He was a member of a band called OMC and is probably best known for the song.. "How Bizarre"  which can be seen below...

It is one of those songs that brings back memories of cruising on a hot summer day in you car with the windows down... you know, in the days before air conditioning.... It creates a certain feeling of longing back to those days... especially perhaps now when its -10 out.

On the subject of kiwi music.. while checking out some blogs from my old home town Wellington I came across the video which can be seen bellow. It is of a new single from a member of the band Fur Patrol.
Her name is Julia Deans and the song is called "a new dialogue"... enjoy....

Snow.. not so.. mobile

Believe it or not... this is my car.
When I parked it in this spot roughly a week ago the snow had been nicely ploughed and it was no problem either getting in or out.

Tomorrow I am off to pick up my son. I'm one of those dads that have the privilege of seeing/taking care of their child every other week.

Getting the car out is a task I am not readily looking forward to... for obvious reasons. For starters I have to get hold of a shovel... so it will be a quick walk to the girlfriend's parents place to borrow one, then after hopefully getting into the car, comes the task of brushing off the snow and scraping off any ice from the windows. After all that it's fingers crossed that the battery hasn't been drained from the past week's cold weather.

The task of picking up my son is therefore not one to be taken lightly. A great deal of time, effort and thought has to be applied.

Fingers crossed that it will all go well... of course I will let you all(?) know how it goes.

2723-01 Rocca Guicciarda Riserva 139kr

I was given the task of buying a wine meant as a gift for... my girlfriend's sister's boyfriend's step-dad in Norway.
The wine was to cost around 150 Swedish kronor. As my girlfriend lives in a smaller town and as the task was given at the last minute I went to the local Systembolaget. There I found one of my favourite wines...

Rocco Guicciarda Riserva... number 2723-01
I personally love this full bodied wine with its characteristics of spices, roasted barrel, chocolate, coffee, dark cherries etc. etc..

The wine is best suited Lamb, Beef and Game.

Whenever looking for a wine, or any other alcoholic beverage for that matter, in Sweden I strongly recommend that you first check out Systembolaget's web-page there you can match food to wine and visa versa. Check out the information on the wine in question... Here...

If you are interested of a little extra information on the producer I have found this site
Here you can see a map of the region and some interesting background facts... for example... The producer Barone Francesco Ricasoli has a Swedish wife.

Snow outside Cold inside

Today has not been a particularly good day. By good day I mean effective day. The couch has been my place of choice from the point of stumbling out of bed in the morning to now, when one is starting to contemplate getting organised for bed.

It's cold outside... around -10 and close to meter deep snow. Inside my girlfriend (yes I have one of those) has the flu. Therefore the motivation for going outside has been little to non-existent today. Well not to worry you say... you could spend the day searching and applying for that much needed job. Yeah ...well..um..no.

You then of course ask me.. have I done anything at all today?
Actually yes I have. I have spent all day playing with my favourite thing on my computer, namely a certain photo-editing program. Firefox's latest update provides me with the chance to edit the appearance of my browser with the  new addition of a theme editor Personas. I personally used  a variation to my current desktop picture. Seen here below...

Tomorrow is Saturday... the weekend. Time to take it easy ;-)
I have also been playing with the half tone function resulting in the artwork below...

I am looking forward to the day when I can afford a decent digital camera and then maybe make a more serious effort  of doing something with my artwork. I do currently have an account on  Deviant Art where I publish some of my current efforts of creativity.

New New Zealand Flag

I have been reading in the newspapers that there has been an interest in updating the flag of our beloved nation. I agree that although the current flag has served us well and been an identifying symbol on occations of both national and international significance it no longer serves as an accurate reflection on us as a people and our relationship to the world as a whole.

I have attached my contribution to the debate and though I'm not 100% happy over the result I will try and explain my reasoning as to the colours and content.

Firstly the colours: Living overseas as I do I have come to realise how unique certain colours are to our country. The blue of our sea is special and more so the greens of our native forest. These colours are the colours on my flag combined with the strip of white across the top... Our long white cloud.

The southern cross is meant not only as the flag's connection with our past but also shows our position on the globe.

And finally as a "KIWI" living overseas I feel that our native bird is a more significant symbol of who we are as a people when comparing us with the rest of the world. We are known as "Kiwis" plain and simple but it is also important to reflect over the fact that the bird itself has no ties to and therefore is independant of any specific sport. We are after all much much more than sports we partake in.

Below are more versions based on the same theme.
